SETTLING THE MIND during UNCERTAINTIES

As we travel through one of the most

uncertain Pandemics in recent memories , we are slowly striving for certain changes . We had a few agendas to think positively about the situation . There is a good movement of positive change and tremendous enthusiasm to brainstorm how we can live peacefully in this new world . However , there is only one issue : do we know what the driving force behind it is ? And are we ready to take that step to identify and make good progress in our life ? Let ’ s peel this onion layer by layer . 1 ) Settling the Fears : Fear is the first product of uncertainties . It spreads faster than even the virus itself . Due to cybernetic advancements , even one emoticon of the scary face or crying face sent over text can spread anxiety and fear . Unless there is a need for clinical treatment , fear can be observed with no attachments and bring a settled mind . a . Talk it out with your friends and family . Often our self-narratives with ourselves can be fatal , and when we speak with others can be corrected . b . Not attaching yourself with those thoughts , causing fear , can help single out those thoughts , and not identify oneself with those thoughts can help calm the mind .
2 ) Meditation : Many people misunderstand the process of meditation as a burdensome and weak solution to the grave issues . But meditation is a potent tool that can create a subtle mind with very positive intentions . a .
Embracing that the role of mind and body is to create thoughts , and those thoughts could be pleasant or unpleasant . When we understand that we cannot get rid of those thoughts , this power of watching the causation of our thoughts takes us to higher awareness . b . Creating a mosaic of gaps between the thoughts . When we meditate and pay attention to our breathing , we settle our chaotic thoughts to a level where the gap between our thoughts become readily available . In these gaps , the awareness is accessible to settle down our irrational thoughts and create a space of nothingness . The nothingness gives rise to the new reality and gateway towards a peaceful perspective towards uncertain situations .
3 ) Being Empathetic : We had been a victim of fight or flight mechanism since primitive years . The primitive limbic system creates the fight and flight response , causing fear and anxiety of unmatched higher levels . a .
When we practice empathy towards others , we are de-escalating the severity of the limbic stimulation without shifting the anxiousness . b . When we practice gratitude towards others and be kind , we are much closer to the higher awareness .
Bringing it all together , when we learn to watch our thoughts and have a positive narrative with ourselves by not identifying with it , we get a good clarity about the situation . Meditation plays a vital role in creating a gap between thoughts of nothingness that eventually gives up a new space of spontaneity and bliss . Finally , practicing empathy and gratitude can bring equanimity and helps us settle our minds .
