Garnett noted that what makes Keels and Wheels unique compared to similar shows is that it is the only show that has both boats and cars .
“ Most concours shows are one or the other , but we have both cars and boats ,” he said . “ Hence the name keels and wheels .”
Garnett spoke on the decision to become a member of the League City Regional Chamber of Commerce .
“ The decision to become a member was to be part of the area and the local marketplace ,” Garnett said . “ We became a member to be a local supporter of the chamber .”
Garnett went on to speak on why businesses and organizations should always consider joining one ’ s local chamber of commerce . “ I think as a businessman , being a member of the chamber is essential ,” he said . “ Joining the chamber of commerce shows you are in support of the local economy and community . A lot of people enjoy knowing that they are supporting a business or organization that is part of the chamber .”
Garnett went on to speak about what he considers to be Keels and Wheels ’ purpose .
“ Keels and Wheels is an organization that works to keep the memories of classic cars and boats for the new generation ,” Garnett said . “ To me , the best aspect of Keels and Wheels is its dedication to building the memories of the automobile and boat industries , as well as carrying the history of them for the younger and new generations . We are very much like a museum . I have grandkids , so as a grandpa I want people to know about the kind of cars from previous times . Since cars are going electric , it will be great for a show like Keels and Wheels to showcase to the younger generations what cars have long run on .”
