MEMBER NEWS Children’s Advocacy Center of NEPA Receives Donation From FNCB FNCB Bank recently presented a check for $630 to the Children’s Advocacy Center of NEPA raised through a bank-wide “Jeans for a Cause” dress down day. Since 1998, the Children’s Advocacy Center of NEPA has helped more than 13,000 children and teens by effectively assessing and treating child abuse and neglect. FNCB’s monthly fundraising effort encourages employees to make small donations in exchange for the opportunity to wear jeans to work. All employee donations are matched dollar for dollar by the bank. Fidelity Bank Supports Local Organizations The Highmark Foundation recently awarded the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute a $25,000 grant to support its Community-Based Cancer Screening Navigation Program. This investment will ensure the program’s continuous work for underserved area residents to facilitate colon, breast, and cervical cancer screenings. Lackawanna College was recently awarded $5,000 for K-12 program at the Lackawanna College Environmental Education Center from FNCB Bank as part of its Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) donation program. The center provides student programs that offer unique, educational opportunities for children and teenagers on a variety of environmental and conservation topics. Fidelity Bank has invested more than $630,000 in support of local students through Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) contributions. The money went to 37 different local non-profit organizations and educational institutions in Pennsylvania, and contributions ranged from $2,500 to $120,000 per organization. The EITC program is in keeping with Fidelity Bank’s commitment to support the communities it serves in Northeastern Pennsylvania through charitable giving. The Wright Center for Community Health Earns Recognition The Wright Center for Community Health’s school-based practice at West Scranton Intermediate School recently became the first in the country to receive National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) School-Based Medical Home Recognition. Practices that follow medical evidence to deliver high-quality, coordinated care and who are committed to continuous improvement over time are eligible for NCQA distinction. 8 • The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce FNCB Bank recently donated $10,000 to the Treatment Court Advocacy Center of Lackawanna County to help local veterans in the rehabilitative program via the Pennsylvania Neighborhood Assistance Project Tax Credit Program. The 18-month rehabilitative program addresses root behavioral problems that often afflict veterans, such as mental health and addiction concerns. The Lackawanna County Veterans Treatment Court was the first of its kind in Pennsylvania when started in 2009 by President Judge Michael Barrasse, who continues to oversee it.
