Lackawanna County Commissioner Laureen A . Cummings recently initiated an anti-opioid campaign with the County ’ s Arts & Culture and Drug & Alcohol Departments aimed at creating an awareness of the perils of this epidemic . The competition , entitled “ Lackawanna County Says Yes To Life ,” involved developing a 30-second spot that highlighted the dangers of abusing prescription pain killers .
Marywood University recently received two Pennsylvania Education Improvement Tax Credit Donations through the University ’ s Momentum program , which gives high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn college credits by enrolling in college-level courses at a significantly reduced cost . Donations were received from Landmark Community Bank and Waste Management .

Allied Services Integrated Health System recently celebrated the opening of its new inpatient hospice center in Scranton . This center features eight private patient rooms with the goal of enhancing patient comfort , support quality of life and relieve suffering in an atmosphere of respect and dignity .

Technicians at the Tobyhanna Army Depot are fabricating hundreds of electronics assembly systems in support of the 8th Army in the Republic of Korea ( ROK ). The assemblies will establish radio interoperability between U . S . and Korean forces to ensure secure communication between allies and enhance battlefield readiness .
