Marywood Receives STARS Grant
Marywood University recently received
a grant from the Robert H. Spitz Foun-
dation to establish the STARS (Students
Together Achieving Remarkable Suc-
cess) program, which is an after-school
mentoring/homework help program
for students in grades seven through
12. The program is able to serve 22
youth with a wait list of 20 additional
students. Throughout the academic
year, STARS will host parent and youth
workshops on topics such as public
education and the process of applying
to college, as well as create an advisory
board made up of parents and Latino
community leaders to keep ongoing
conversations about how the STARS
program is performing and to make
any adjustments to the program to fully
serve the Latino population.
Dime Bank Making Milestones
The Dime Bank recently celebrated
the career milestones of 31 employ-
ees as follows. Five years: Eric Avery,
Joy Carey, Arlyce Degnan, Karla Eyler,
Margaret Farber, Rory McGhie, Paula
Ralston Nenish , Val O’Hare, Tina Pas-
siment, and Cathy Reimer. Ten years:

University Staff Members Honored
The University of Scranton presented
Sursum Corda (Lift Up Your Hearts)
Awards to Maureen Castaldi, Jane
Johnson, Kevin Rude, and Tara Seely
at a recent convocation. The award
recognizes members of the University’s
professional/paraprofessional staff,
clerical/technical staff and mainte-
nance/public safety staff who have
made outstanding contributions to the
life and mission of the University.

and awards presentation to recognize
employees celebrating years of service
milestones. Employees recognized for
