Essential oils are the subtle , volatile liquids that are distilled from plants , shrubs s , flowers , trees es , bushes s and seeds . Unfortunately na , not all l essential ential oils are created equal .
Most of the essential oils on the market have been weakened or diluted through a variety of processes . Many people think when they buy any oil that is labeled ed as “ pure ” they are getting a good oil
— which h is not always the case . This month , certified ed aromatherapist and Young Living independent ende distributor Jill Weida , explains the four levels of therapeutic oils .
Pure : This means the oil was not diluted with a lesser quality essential entia oil . “ Pure ” does not mean it does not have chemicals added to it . In the United States , all you need is five percent of essential oil in the bottle in order to label it as 100 percent pure .
Natural : This means the oil was not altered with vegetable oils , propylene glycol , SD Alcohol 40 or other chemicals .
Complete : These oils have not been rectified or purified . Essential oils are often redistilled to make a small amount of oil go further . They can make more profit that way .
Genuine or Grade A : Great care is taken at every step of the process when creating a Grade A oil . These oils have been created by using seeds and organic soil that has never had chemicals put on it . Chemicals are never used on the plants in the field . They are distilled by steam at low pressure and low temperature in upright containers and no chemicals are ever used in the process .
