Educators in the Workplace:
Bridging the Gap Between Education and Business
Area educators have recently completed the inaugural year of the newly
restructured Educators in the Workplace program.
Educators in the Workplace provides Lackawanna County educators with a week-
long industry immersion experience in one of four industry specifi c cohorts.
Offered through a collaboration between the Lackawanna County Workforce
Development Board and Skills in Scranton, Educators in the Workplace seeks to
align and connect business and industry leaders with local school districts, the
career and technical center and the local intermediate unit.
“The amount of information you learn and the ability to talk to
potential employers is priceless. You go back to your class with
a fountain of knowledge and new resources to use.”
“I would tell a fellow educator that he/she
should take every measure to dedicate
their time and energy to this amazing
mission. Instructing students in career
readiness skills will assist us in giving them
what every educator wants for his or her
students-- a secure future. Educators
who believe they are capable of making a
positive infl uence in their students’ lives
should experience this program!”

“This should be a mandatory experience
for all educators to foster the importance
of collaboration and solidify the main
goal of education, which should be to
become a productive citizen by becoming
an employed adult.”
“Enroll in this program! It will open your
eyes to see what we do not realize is in
our backyards.”
