PERSONNEL Tasneem Khan, Misericordia University recently named Barbara Schwartz-Bechet, Ed.D., as the dean of the College of Health Sciences and Education. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education from Brooklyn College and her Master of Science in education with a specialization in special education from the College of Staten Island. She received her Doctor of Education with specializations in emotional disturbance and applied behavior analysis from Columbia University Teachers College. Laura Toole, LCSW, was recently promoted to Executive Vice President of the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute. Prior to this role, she was the organization’s Vice President of Community and Patient Services. She will continue to provide organizational supervision and management of all Community and Patient Services programs and activities, including the Patient Navigation Screening Program, community education, family of survivors programs and special events, and healthcare professional education. The Dime Bank has announced the following staff promotions: John McCarthy Jr., president of McCarthy Tire Service Co. Inc., recently received Modern Tire Dealer magazine’s 2019 Tire Dealer of the Year award. Mr. McCarthy is a third-generation tire dealer, and since 1997 he has served the president of the company that his grandfather started in 1926. Under McCarthy’s leadership, McCarthy Tire Service has grown into one of the largest commercial tire dealerships in the country, now having 65 service locations and 10 retread shops along the East Coast. This summer it completed the largest acquisition in its history — the purchase of 16 GCR Tires & Service locations, which were owned by Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations LLC. With that acquisition, McCarthy Tire Service’s sales surpass $400 million and the company employs more than 1,300 people. Dr. Paul Stoko has joined Northeastern Rehabilitation’s Scranton location. He graduated from a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at Penn State Hershey Medical Center, where he also completed an internship in internal medicine. Dr. Stoko received his Bachelor of Science degree from The Pennsylvania State University and received both a Masters in Biomedical Science and Doctorate in Medicine from The Commonwealth Medical College, now Geisinger- Commonwealth School of Medicine. Dr. Stoko has experience and has done research in transcranial direct current stimulation and traumatic brain injuries. Rory S. McGhie has been named Vice President, Banking Relationship Officer. Melissa L. Wilkins was named Vice President, Retail Operations Officer. Cynthia D. Burdick was recently named Vice President, Bank Secrecy Act/Anti Money Laundering (BSA/AML) Officer.
