EDM Celebrates Investment in the Scranton Community
EDM ( formerly Diversified Information Technologies ) recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony at their newly renovated facility in Moosic in celebration of their investment in the Scranton Community .
EDM ’ s remodeling efforts turned an outdated cubicle farm into a modern , sleek operational office space that reflects their leadership in a technology-driven industry , while still serving as a functional space for their day to day operations .
Lockheed Martin Supports Veterans ’ Advocacy
Lockheed Martin recently presented a check to The University of Scranton in the amount of $ 2,500 to support its Veterans Advocacy Committee and veterans ’ student club .
Geisinger Welcomes Professional Orthopaedic Associates
Professional Orthopaedic Associates will join Geisinger as of January 1 , 2018 .
Board-certified orthopaedic surgeons John Doherty Jr ., M . D ., Theodore Tomaszewski , M . D ., Kevin Colleran , M . D ., Jeffrey Gillette , D . O ., and board certified rheumatologist Chad Walker , D . O ., will officially become Geisinger physicians and faculty members of the Geisinger Musculoskeletal Institute effective that date . All of the practice ’ s 52 employees will also become Geisinger employees .
The newly-organized Institute will remain at the Ice Box Complex and continue to specialize in orthopaedic surgery as well as rheumatology . Onsite radiology services and physical therapy are also offered .
Geisinger will invest $ 1.5 million in the practice , adding new technologies and equipment that includes the latest radiology upgrades and installing Epic ’ s electronic health record , the preferred electronic medical record system used by more than 250 health care organizations nationwide .

Lackawanna College Begins Construction on New Building
Lackawanna College recently celebrated the beginning of construction on the 409 Adams Avenue building in downtown Scranton .
The two-story , 14,400 square foot building at 409 Adams will include industrial teaching kitchens for the Hospitality and Culinary Arts programs , Baking and Pastry program , student study space , and a student dining commons , which is a crucial expansion necessary to meet the needs of existing students as well future needs as Lackawanna College ’ s growth continues .
In addition , the college will update and improve the appearance of the building , with new exterior glazed openings , exterior signage and masonry coating . Plans include a redesign of the building entrance , creating a glassenclosed entranceway , and repairing the sidewalks along Adams Avenue . Construction on the building is expected to be completed by late 2018 .
Lackawanna College received financial assistance for this project through a $ 3,000,000 grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania ’ s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program ( RACP ) under the direction of Governor Tom Wolf . Built in the 1970s , the two-story building and adjacent courtyard will be renovated and outfitted using both RACP funds and private contributions .
