Let’s start with the misperception that there are limited
job opportunities in this region.
On the contrary -- there are literally thousands of job
opportunities right here in northeastern Pennsylvania!
These are quality jobs, cutting across every business
sector at every level on the employment ladder.
Jobs in healthcare, transportation, logistics, advanced
manufacturing, engineering, business, technology,
utilities, construction, and more, are available here.
There are opportunities for nurses, technicians,
engineers, software engineers, IT specialists,
accountants, salespeople, construction workers,
electricians, truck drivers… and the list goes on.
Against that backdrop, we are pleased to share with you
the creation of a partnership to expose young people to
the businesses who are searching for their talents.
In partnership with The University of Scranton’s Small
Business Development Center, the Chamber, through
our workforce development division, Skills in Scranton,
has established an internship initiative that looks to
match Chamber-member small businesses with scholars
from our regional educational institutions. You will
learn more about this initiative in this month’s edition of
Momentum.
This initiative, funded through the support of leading
Chamber business, is just one piece of a bigger Skills
in Scranton plan to keep our best and brightest here in
our region-- to help them put down roots and expand
opportunities for our members to grow their businesses.
Spread the word to students and businesses alike--
northeastern Pennsylvania is the place to learn, work,
and stay.
