President’s Message
Here’s to
Another
Year!
As I write these words, the first snow of the season is falling on Mulberry Street.
Though it seems to be melting as it hits the ground, it is a sure sign that we
are nearing the end of 2017. We are ending this year on a high note, having
celebrated the great work and successes of scores of Chamber members at the
recent Chamber Gala and SAGE Awards.
We also got to witness government in action as we facilitated well-attended
mayoral candidate forums in October, as well as a special presentation by the
Pennsylvania Economy League on the topic of Lackawanna County reassessment
and a panel discussion on business matters with Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf.
Leadership Lackawanna is once again tackling a great group of community
projects and Skills in Scranton has been reconfigured and reenergized with new
participants and programming. Demonstrating our commitment to small business,
MetroAction produced a record number of loans this year.
All of these successes show just how strong your Chamber is in advocating for this
area’s business community. It is all a result of your continued support.
On behalf of the staff and The Chamber and affiliated boards, I wish you all the
best this holiday season.
