the Frontline
Beginning in March 2020, it was a time of the
unknown, disbelief, and confusion as the
community along with the rest of the nation
prepared for the COVID-19 pandemic shut
down and social distancing. Our healthcare
frontline heroes were in the
trenches, battling an unknown
and unseen enemy, leaving
their families behind, working
long hours with focus and
dedication, putting saving
other lives above their own.
During this time, Tejal Petal,
her uncle AJ Patel and the
rest of the family, residents
of League City for almost 20
years, experienced the bitter
news firsthand. Construction
of the new Fairfield Inn Suites
by Marriott, League City
was shut down because of
the pandemic. Construction
activities came to a screeching
halt as workers departed the
job site. It was a time of much
uncertainty for Tejal and her
family. Yet, they continue to
focus on their lifelong dream
of building a family-owned
hotel in their hometown,
allowing them to share their
warmth, hospitality, and giving
back.
Despite the construction
challenges, the family decided
they must give back to the community that supported
them for so many years. They knew in their hearts that
they had to find a way to give back to the healthcare
workers, first responders, and local law enforcement
departments who were on the frontline fighting the
good fight, protecting and serving the community.
They began by ordering take-out food from local
