LEADERSHIP LEAGUE CITY – THE BEGINNING OF A JOURNEY !
Despite having to make significant adjustments because of the pandemic , months of planning , resetting the calendar and schedule , the 2021 Leadership League City class got down to business on the cold morning of Thursday , January 21st . As class members arrived at Lakewood Yacht Club for the kickoff orientation , some were anxiously nervous , others were curious , while many were friendly and ready to start their leadership journey . By the end of the day , these emerging leaders demonstrated their commitment to learning , growing personally and professionally . They showed up , engaged in round table discussions , shared their stories , ideas , personal goals , and motivation to participate in leadership 2021 . It was the first of many thoughtprovoking sessions .
Looking back after six months , it has been an experience of a lifetime with friendships and connections formed . February was the history of League City , with Mayor Pat Hallisey , as the luncheon keynote speaker , accompanied by his wife , Janice Hallisey . Ronnie Richards of Butler Courtyard and Jane McFaddin delighted the class with their historical knowledge of the city .
March was Galveston County Day , a day that traditionally the leadership class travel to Austin to visit with their legislative leaders , but alas , because of the pandemic , Leadership League City pivoted and requested a panel of leaders to share their time and knowledge with the class . Mark Henry , Galveston County Judge , Darrell Apffel , County Commissioner , provided information about the commissioners ’ court ’ s role in our community . Dan Seal , Executive Director of Economic Development for BAHEP , provided information on the economic landscape . Glenn Freedman provided an insightful wrap-up session . April program focused on healthcare with Todd Caliva ; CEO of HCA Affiliated Clear Lake Regional Medical Center . Noel Cardenas , Sr . Vice President / CEO , Memorial Hermann Southeast / Pearland Hospitals . Stephen K . Jones , Jr ., CEO , University of Texas Medical Branch Health , Clear Lake Campus , and Dan Newman , CEO , Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital , presenting valuable leadership insights , styles , and tools .
