NONPROFIT OF THE MONTH MARTA RIOS WISNOSKI Pastor of Prayer and Inner Healing – Grace Church Houston Campus Pastor and Executive Director – Grace Christian Academy – Early Learning Center [email protected] www.mygrace.com | www.gcahtx.com OVERCOMING FEAR Be a part of the Solution Our church covering, Grace Houston, has always been a part of reaching our community. Our Senior Pastor, Garrett Booth, has aimed high and has turned each challenge into an opportunity to see God move. Our faithful volunteers and staff have made personal sacrifices to put our community first. In my 30 years, I cannot remember a local or national challenge we were not part of the solution. With our current quarantine and all of its challenges, Grace Church has conducted 8 food distributions, assisted at the Houston food bank 7 times, prayed for literary thousands of people, hospital outreach, and a variety of other opportunities to show our love for Houston; led by Pastor Dallas Wilson and Pastor Natalie Salinas through our ministry called Love thy Houston. https://youtu.be/FoLMvS4hNH4 We have hundreds of faithful volunteers who make this all possible with the generosity of a variety of vendors. We believe in praying, reaching our community, and being part of the solution whenever our city faces adversity. At Grace Christian Academy, led by HOS, Dr. Darrell Smith, Principal Ron McCallon, and our Early Learning Center, led by Mrs. Lizzy Vela, we follow our church coverings lead. We teach our children from 6 weeks – to 12th grade not to fear a problem but to look for a way to learn and be a part of the solution. Too often fear blinds us and keeps us from living the life God fully intended us to live. Prayer is always our first and last action. When we look at what we believe about ourselves, others, and God we can expose our fears, look for God’s truth and find authentic peace. Problems and obstacles cannot be avoided but we can use them to build unity, grow together, learn, be creative, and minister to those who are hurting or in need. Having a servant’s heart brings forward our own personal healing and freedom. At GCA and ELC we have a diverse enrollment and staff. We gather good information, plan, prepare, communicate, and execute when we face a project and see a need. At Grace Christian Academy we planned and we were prepared prior to the quarantine with a complete scrub down and sanitation preparedness before we needed it. GCA continues to pray and prepare our facility and our staff. We are continuing to evolve and make changes to enhance every student’s experience and every family’s expectations. We have over 100,000 square feet and the average class room is approximately 750 square feet. We are grateful we have small classroom sizes and social distancing can be accommodated easily. We are raising champions that will contribute to society. When they face fear and challenges of life they will respond with faith and freedom while generously being part of the solution. 34 MOMENTUM
