Yesterday was a very humbling experience as I encountered many
experienced job seekers at the ESGR Military Job Fair. I met so many
talented veterans with excellent skills, experience, education, and
work history. I was proud to see so many businesses – small to large
corporations – engaged in this effort to put our esteemed veterans to
work in meaningful and fulfilling roles.
The job fair began with the pledge of allegiance, singing and signing of
the National Anthem, and eloquent speeches from decorated active
and retired veterans all expressing the many employer benefits of hiring
military veterans. In addition, there were companies there that spoke
about assisting military veterans with transitioning from the military to
civilian careers. Although there were several speakers, the consensus
was that U. S. Military veterans add significant value to organizations
due to their high level of character, discipline, resiliency, teamwork, and
high level of skills.
