Physicians and health care administrators can improve
their business and leadership skills through University of
Houston-Clear Lake’s Center for Executive Education.
Courses are taught by UHCL Healthcare Administration
faculty and other experts in the health care community. “It was a great learning experience,” added Emilio
Supsupin, who completed the fall 2017 class. “The course
provides a broader glimpse into the current state and future
of health care.” Supsupin is director for Neuroimaging at
LBJ Hospital in Houston.
Topics include finance and budgeting, practice
management and marketing, strategic planning and
other subjects. Instruction is at the UHCL offices located
in the Texas Medical Center. Attendees can also further their education with an
advanced degree. Both the HMCP and PLMC programs will
satisfy all foundation requirements of the Master’s in
Healthcare Administration (MHA) and the MHA/MBA
degree programs at UHCL.

Certification Program has helped more than 130 medical
students, residents and fellows prepare for leadership
roles. “This is essential knowledge for any practitioner,”
said Tanveer Khan, a psychiatry resident at University of
Texas Health Science Center in Houston. “Healthcare is
a business, and it’s vital for us as practitioners to
understand how it works.” Khan completed the
certification program in August.
In fall 2017, UHCL expanded the program by partnering
with leading regional healthcare systems to include the
certificate for practicing physicians.
At the successful completion of the program,
participants receive the Physician Leadership and
Management Certificate from UHCL. The program
awards continuing medical education credits, and is also
approved by the American Association for Physician
Leadership to meet partial requirements toward the
Certified Physician Executive program.
