Do you continue to experience pain? Maybe you’ re treating the wrong joint. Often your pain may not be as straight forward as it seems. Your body depends on regional interdependence to move. Some of your joints are stable and some joints move. A stable joint is a joint that is limited in motion, for example, the knee. Although the knee bends, it is limited in the side to side and rotational movement. A moveable joint move in all different angles and motions, for example, the hip. When a movable joint like the hip stop moving properly, the stable joints like the lower back or the knee must compensate by moving more. This can cause stress to the muscles and joints causing pain.
Major Moveable Joints:
• Ankle
• Hip
• Middle Back
• Upper Neck
• Shoulder
• Wrist Major Stable Joints:
• Knee
• Lower Back
• Lower Neck
• Elbow
If you are have received treatment and are still experiencing pain, make sure your joints surrounding the pain are evaluated. Your movable joints are should be moving and the stable joints should be strengthened. Ask a qualified provider to develop a mobility and strengthening program to address your painful joints.
