Have you worked for a boss that believes in you and pushes you to do greater things to move you up to higher levels than you knew you could attain? If you have been blessed with these relationships, you have known a great persuader. A leader that can persuade effectively, induces motivation and motivation inspires action. Here are five steps to becoming a great persuader: 5 STEPS 1. Learn how to tell great stories. Stories are more convincing than simple statements of fact. Stories draw people in and allow them to live the moment and to feel the benefits. This is a more effective mover of action. 2. Personalize your message to match the receivers background – learn to relate to others on their level. Great communicators know their audience, they study, they prepare and therefore they connect on a higher level. 3. Be honest and make sure your persuasive message is better for them. When you are truly persuading in the positive, you are presenting something that is better for others not better for you. 16 MOMENTUM Great leaders make things better for others. 4. Show enthusiasm and be sold yourself. It is difficult to persuade anyone to a message in which you are not sold yourself. Make sure you are passionate about the direction you are persuading one to follow. If you find it wonderful, it is more likely one will be persuaded to move in that direction. 5. Share experiences of your own. Look to find experiences that you have that were good for you. Share those experiences and share the benefits that were gained when you achieved the same. To achieve it – you must believe it! Leaders persuade others to do things that they normally would not have done on their own. These persuaders can move their team past all the barriers of fear and doubt. Persuasive leaders don’t lead others down the easy road, they inspire others to take the right path for their greatest reward. The greatest persuaders know how to communicate inspirationally in order to lead their team. An inspired team will power through change, through obstacles and through fear. An inspired team that is persuaded and motivated has the faith to move mountains. They believe they will achieve! If you are a leader, you need to learn to perfect your persuasive skills. Everybody wins, and you do good. Leaders persuade, that’s what we do!
