ow that networks can extend as far as
your vehicle can take you, software-
defined wide area networks(SD-WAN)
will soon become the standard for mobile
businesses. Most use their mobile tablets,
which will typically address the user’s need for a
network connection…but what if your vehicle was a
hotspot? The “Software Defined” in its name is simply
the management dashboard used to control all your
assets, and “WAN” is your internet. With SD-WAN
now available for commercial use, this technology is
becoming the frontrunner for all industries.
These solutions pass the extreme demand of first
responders by providing a high reliable and continuous
connection to patient safety networks, with the
capability to have 2 networks in the event of a failure.
This technology used to take months to install for an
organization, but with smaller form-factor devices – it
is installed and operational in days. Solutions such as
mobility increases response time in all events, including
saving lives.
Long Term Evolution(LTE)
Long Term Evolution, or LTE as most know it, it the
communications standard that SD-WAN devices use
for their connection. Developed by the 3rd Generation
Partnership Project (3GPP) with the intention of
boosting 3G 10x, LTE is also the only wireless
network endorsed by Public Safety, for the Public
Safety Broadband Network for their mission critical
operations. All mobile devices are able to function
like minicomputers as a result of this communications
standard.
