TIPS To Protect and
Maintain Your Hair Color
For The Holidays and Beyond
T
Be mindful of heat
o keep
your
colored
hair
looking
shiny and healthy,
it’s important
to protect your
strands from
heat before styling. It’s crucial to make sure your hair
is completely dry (after washing or applying a styling
product) before using your heat styling tool (other
than your blow-dryer), as you don’t want to cause
unnecessary damage, split ends or broken strands.
Hot shower temperatures can also have an adverse
effect on your colored hair. Hot water in general can
dry out your hair and scalp, making strands more
brittle and prone to breakage. But, super-hot water in
combination with colored hair can have an even greater
consequence. The excessive heat opens up your hair
cuticle and can release some of your color, causing
premature fading. It’s best to shampoo your hair with
slightly warm water and then rinse with cold water after
conditioning.
Shampoo less often
Speaking of holding
on to your hair’s natural
oils, changing up your
shampoo routine can
also help maintain your
colored hair. Don’t wash
your hair any more often
than every other day,
as shampoo can wash
away those natural moisturizing agents and encourage
premature color fading (unless you’re using the right
products, more on that to come). On the non-shampoo
days, use the opportunity to try a new style and break
up your routine a bit! Your color will thank you for it.

Choose the right products
To maintain your color for as long as possible, make
sure to choose products that are specifically formulated
for colored hair.
Color Protect
Shampoo and Color
Protect Conditioner
When you shampoo,
you’ll want to gently
cleanse the hair
without stripping the
color or depleting the
moisture. Our Color
Protect Shampoo does
the trick and even adds vibrancy and shine for ultra
healthy-looking locks. Follow it up with some Color
Protect Conditioner to rehydrate and strengthen color-
damaged hair, control static and flyaways, and protect
against fading with its built-in sunscreen.
Color Protect Leave-in Conditioner
Extend your color protection beyond the shower by
using a leave-in conditioner on clean, towel-dried hair.
It’s a lightweight spray that can quickly and easily add
defense against damage and color fading.
Violet Sulfate-Free
Shampoo
Blondes have an
additional challenge
of battling brassy
tones in addition to
general color fading. If
your blonde is turning
brassy or your grey is
looking a little yellow,
incorporate our Violet Sulfate-Free Shampoo to cancel
out those yellows and add some brightness and shine.
No matter what shade you’ve chosen this season (or
month, or day), these tips will help you hang on to that
hue a little longer.
Happy coloring!
