My Interview with
LEAGUE CITY
MAYOR PAT HALLISEY:
League City Named Safest City in Texas with
over 100,000 Residents
T
he City of Oaks is a
city with over 100,000
residents, yet it feels
like living in small-town
USA. Reaching out to
Mayor Pat Hallisey to schedule
our interview I was surprised by
his availability and accessibility.
As I parked my car and walked
up the driveway to his home for
our interview, he welcomed me
at the front door with a warm, friendly smile and hug.
Mayor Hallisey can often be seen around town,
whether he is speaking at the recent Veterans Day
Memorial Ceremony at Hometown Heroes Park,
attending local civic and social events, participating
at the YMCA open house or volunteering in the
community. This mayor is a man in action, accessible
and visible in his city, connecting with the residents.
When asked to describe the City of League City and
what makes it unique, State
Representative Mayes Middleton had this to say
“League City is one of the most vibrant growing cities
in Texas and a true testament to the fruits of good
old fashioned American free enterprise and family.
None of this growth would be possible without our
great law enforcement, public safety is critical to our
growth. Mayor Pat Hallisey is a true servant leader, he
nearly sacrificed his life serving others in the aftermath
of Harvey. We are blessed to have him as Mayor,
he is always willing to give back and serve others.”
Interviewer:
Mayor Hallisey, the City of League City was recently
named the safest city in Texas with over 100,000
residents. What does this mean to you and what would
you attribute this accomplishment to?
Mayor Hallisey:
I am extremely proud of our city and the residents,
but I give much credit to the dedicated, hardworking
men and women of the League City Police Department.
These police officers work and live in the city they serve,
they raise their own families in our neighborhoods, and
just like the rest of us they want only the very best for

all residents including their own sons, daughters, wives,
husbands, friends and extended families. Safety is our
top priority in the city. When our residents feel safe
in their homes, their workplaces and on the streets, it
creates a sense of unity, neighbors looking out for each
other and their children, building lifelong friendships.
This is the city where we raise our families, this is the
place we call home.
I attributed much of our success and
accomplishments from a safety standpoint to open
communication, two-way open dialog between our
police officers and residents, creating a bond of trust.
Our police officers are devoted to protecting life,
property, and individual liberties while enhancing
the quality of life. To achieve these objectives, they
are committed to forming and promoting practical
partnerships with each other and the residents they
serve.
Interviewer:
If you can look into your crystal ball what do you see
for the future for League City?
Mayor Hallisey:
Continue to enhance the quality of life for our
residents by offering amenities and services that
all citizens can enjoy. We are looking at our natural
resources including the best usage for our open spaces,
while maintaining our existing resources. Technology
is a huge focus of mine, with NASA just up the road
it would make sense to look for companies that will
partner with us to bring new emerging technology to
our city. I am also focus on infrastructure, drainage,
transportation and much more.
Interviewer:
When you look back on your life, what would you like
your legacy to be?
Mayor Hallisey:
I would like my legacy to show I cared for my city,
the residents, my family and friends. Most importantly,
I enjoyed living in a city that I knew the residents and
they in turn knew me. That I was available to meet,
listen and communicate openly with care and kindness.
Knowing every day I tried my very best to do the right
thing, and I always had their best interest in my heart.
