Linguistic Experts noted people who are naturally good communicators are good not because of what they say but rather how they say it. We all want to communicate better with others so here’s are some tips. Talking is second nature for all of us. We have been talking for so long that we become comfortable with what we say that we fail to think that what we say has repercussions. We neglect the meaning to how we say our words. Virginia Satir is a founding mother of family therapy. Virginia wrote in her book The New People Making that “we all have at thumb with a unique thumbprint.” Effective communication begins with the recognition that each of us communicate uniquely. We may use different languages to communicate a common meaning in our words. Nero-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a blend of psychology and linguistic technology. Syntonics is a model of communication that means to be in harmony with self and others. Interaction with others requires powerful connections between two people that dovetails each other outcome. The first step for effective communication is to know what you want. This is often the most difficult step. Effective communicate begins with a well formulated 32 MOMENTUM outcome. An outcome is based on the result you want and recognizing your desire for that result. How do we find our way if we don’t know where we are going? What if you decided to go on vacation and went to the airport. You boarded a flight and you don’t know where your flight would land. We typically never plan our vacation like this. Once you decide to take that vacation to your favorite destination spot, you book your flight. You know the dates, flight number, airports and check in time. You started with a strong desire and willingness to know what you want, where you want to be and that you are persistently strong and capable of accomplishing everything to achieve that outcome. A master communicator always starts their message with a desired outcome in mind. An outcome is a result you want based on sensory acuity skills. Sensory acuity skills are based on imagination and visualization. In other words, your ability to describe your outcomes based on what you see more, hear more and feel more than most people. When thinking about the results you want, define your outcome on a piece of paper first assuming that you already achieved that outcome. Describe what you want in terms of the way you like to see things to happen and how would this change your life? How about the way you like to feel and about what you would hear when you have the outcome. To become a master communicator, you must harness, continually develop and practice your skills so you can communicate your message successfully with other people. If you are not getting the response you want, your skills in being more flexible in your communication are vital. Are you flexible to change your behaviors until you get the response you want? When you aim for a specific desired result, goal settings are broader and general terms with a series of task oriented skills. Aim for a specific alignment of your outcome with another person. Entertaining short and long terms objectives are necessary. Most important, Master communicators have a positive attitude.
