At the first Galveston County Dairy Show,
there were 53 head of cattle shown and
the event was attended by 500 patrons.
Two registered Jersey Bull calves were
donated by the Galveston Chamber of
Commerce as first place prizes.
The Mainland Chamber of Commerce
donated cash prizes for the other
placings. Today, the fair is a 9 day show with
over 500 4-H and FFA youth exhibiting
livestock in 9 different shows. Our
Junior Livestock Auction and Junior
Commercial Heifer Auction sales for
2017 exceeded $720,000.
The GCF&R is proud to award over
$50,000 in scholarships each year.
