Board Member Spotlight
Ray Soto
Past Chairman of the Board
Q: When did you first start getting involved in the
Chamber of Commerce?
A: I became involved in the Chamber of Commerce shortly
after opening my office in August of 1997. Dee Scott
suggested that a Chamber membership would benefit my
business.
Q: Why do you believe in working with the Chamber of
Commerce?
A: I believe in working with the Chamber because it
provides me an opportunity to meet, get to know and work
with fabulous people that would oth erwise not be known to
me. I feel privileged to be able to have input in building
the local business community, especially encouraging new
business owners. Occasionally, some of these awesome
people become clients.
Q: Why did you decide to become a board member?
A: My decision to become a board member was part
curiosity and part honor. I was curious to see what a
Chamber board member did and actually honored and
humbled that someone thought I had something to
contribute. I am not really that outspoken, although my
convictions and beliefs are grounded.
Q: What would you tell someone who is thinking about
joining the Chamber in order to convince them to join?
A: If you are a local business owner, you should make it
one of your to-do items professionally to serve on your
Chamber board if they will have you. Dive in and stay
engaged. Membership in your Chamber is the gateway
to professional opportunity and success through
networking on a favorable basis. Should you want to be
taken seriously in the business community, then you will
be an engaged member in the local organization that
exists to promote, enhance and advocate for your
success no matter what the endeavor.
Q: What was your favorite part of being the Chairman
of the Board?
A: My favorite part of being Chairman of the Board was
being able to learn so much from all of you.
