Moments of Motherhood Inaugural Issue (June 2019) | Page 11
I inherited my gift for
speaking the truth from
my Mom. Years ago,
people referred to it as
being able to tell someone
about
themselves so
sweetly and
expertly that
they actually
thanked you
for your
words. She
taught me the
art of saying
what you
needed to say
without
having to yell,
scream or
curse. There
were times
that
warranted
those things, but she
taught me that words have
just as much power when
they are shared in a nice
tone, as long as the words
are the truth.
So, when people annoy
me, instead of telling
them off, I will point out
something that is hugely
obvious to me, in the
nicest manner possible.
That gift for the quick
witty and sometimes
sarcastic comeback is a
gift from my mother.

My mother loved
her home and all of
her surroundings to
be immaculate. To
this very day, if
every
room in
my
home is
not
spotless
I can’t
rest.
Because
of her
cleanlin
ess, I
have
OCD
really
bad!
I
have to
see the vacuum
marks in the
carpet, the windows
must be spotless,
dust cannot live in
my home, clothes
must be washed and
dried each and
every day! There
are days when I get
home from work
that I find myself
exhausted but I
cannot completely
rest until
everything has been
washed and put
away.
