With the help of the project that will continue for a year in coordination with EU, the legislations for the noise originated from the machines that are used outdoors and the control of their exhaust emissions is expected to be efficiently executed in Turkey. Extensive educational programs, work- shops and visits to the EU countries that successfully execute the Project are in the plan. ‘EXPORTING HALF OF OUR PRODUCTS TO EU, IS A SIGN OF OUR SUCCESS’ The Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Dr. Çetin Ali Dönmez had a speech at the opening session and stated that more than half of Turkey’s machin- ery production is exported to the EU countries. Dönmez said that this would not be possible if Turkey was not successful at adapting EU’s technical legislations. Dönmez said: ‘We are planning to increase our Ministry’s, machinery indus- try’s and suitability evalua- tion institutions’ competence and enhance the human and environmental health with this Project. We firmly believe that all these studies will have an indirect effect on developing our country’s economy.’ ‘ABSOLUTE ADJUSTMENT WITH EU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO OUR EXPORT’S INCREASE’ MAİB Chairman of the Board Kutlu Karavelioğlu stated that Europe is a very important market for Turkish machinery industry. Karavelioğlu said: ‘Projects like this, about absolute ad- justment with EU legislations, will help to reveal our pro- ducers’ potentials. Our main target is to double our export in the middle term. I want to thank our Ministry and all the contributing institutions and organizations.’ ‘NATIONAL MACHINERY LEGISLATION DATA PORTAL’ WILL BE ESTABLISHED The director of the consortium that conducts the Project with the leadership of BYS Group, Dr. Tolga Kaskatı stated that the documents that are be important for the Project will be translated to Turkish for the benefit of the users. Dr. Kaskatı continued his speech like this: ‘Until the end of the first year we will create ‘National Machinery Legislation Data Portal’ for the Industry and Technology Ministry. This por- tal will increase the awareness for the machinery directives and standarts, and it will be used for educational purposes too. The users will obtain tech- nical legislation information for machinery with the help of this portal.’ 103 • JULY 2019
