Reflections of MOM-n-PA 2021

By the end of the second day , we had treated another 460 patients . We exceeded our goals and provided more care than we imagined . During the two-day mission we performed nearly 200 restorations , 78 root canal treatments , 565 extractions and 30 appliances ( flippers and partials ). The total estimated donated services was $ 585,000 .

Shortly after the event , I wrote a note to the Temple faculty , staff and students expressing my gratitude for their time and efforts to make this a great event for the community . I hope the non-Temple volunteers that are reading this can accept my thanks for your time and effort during this 2021 event .
There are so many volunteers to name , and I do apologize to each of you , but you know who you are . I do want to take a moment to recognize Dr . Gary Davis , the current President of the Pennsylvania Dental Association and General Chair for MOM n PA since its very beginnings . His attention to detail and time and energy for these events every year – before , during and after – show his dedication to this mission . I also want to recognize Dr . Bernie Dishler , Past President of the PDA and executive board member for MOM-n-PA since the beginning . He was very involved with public relations and coordinating between the Temple staff and MOM volunteers . Finally , Dr . Ron Heier , executive board member and our Volunteer Chair since our first mission . We all agree that he did the most work this year . We had more categories of volunteers than ever before . Thank you all !
They say you can really see into the soul of a person by their actions . Kindness , compassion , giving , and caring were in full view on Friday and Saturday , September 23-24 . There was an abundance of kind souls helping those in need at 3223 N . Broad St . in Philadelphia .
We hope to see many of you during our next event at the York County Fairgrounds , June 10-11 , 2022 .
