MOLO IS KNOWN FOR EXTRAVAGANT PRINTS - How do they come to life ?
We found inspirational pictures and created our mood boards to pin point the vibe we were looking for . When the stage was set we briefed our graphical designer Kerstin , who then created the universes .
Of course a few changes are made along the way . For example , the ‘ Gold Fishshell ’ print started out to be only a texture print , but ended up having fins on the ruffles .
WHAT INSPIRED YOU IN THIS SEASON ’ S SWIMCOLLECTION ?
This season we decided to expand our swim collection by adding new styles . Now boys and girls can complete the swim look with dresses , straw hats , t-shirts and tank tops when heading to the beach .
For the girls , this season ’ s inspiration came from goldfish and other beautiful fishes – everything that is graceful and poetic . A sort of dream world one could argue . Seashells are the jewels of the sea that fascinates children and encourage them to collect them . The ‘ Seashell Swim ’ print also stir up the pink colours making them come to life , creating a fresh summer look .
The ‘ Wild Cats ’ print plays with structures , but remains figurative so that children can relate . On the other hand , the colours of the print are toned to suit bigger children as well .
For the boys we wanted an expression of sand , water and salt in beautiful , deep colours . For the bigger boys we have the profound , green jungle , ‘ Camo Palms ’, and the placement print ‘ Running Surfers ’, and for the smaller ones , the dangerous ‘ Stingrays ’. The great creatures of the sea are honored and exhibited as cool placement prints ; ‘ Jumping Stingrays ’ and ‘ Surfer Meets Whale ’.
We also wanted a graphic print with a black and white history , as a contrast to the deep colours . That print came to life as ‘ Fish Skeleton ’.
For the second drop , inspiration for the girls came from more warm climates ; South America , bananas and the colourful , happy toucans . The colours are stronger and the contrasts are bigger . For the bigger girls we created the graphical print ‘ Aloha Stripe ’.
For the boys , inspiration came from surfing and vacation mode . The all over print ‘ Surfboards ’ provides a cool beach look – also for the bigger boys . We also brought in a sense of humor to our placement prints with ‘ Scary Fish ’, ‘ Singing Turtle ’ and ‘ Surfer On The Board ’.
