Riding the Rails
Aboard the Patrón
Tequila Express
Car #50 provides a
luxurious traveling
experience with a
gourmet kitchen,
formal dining room,
three staterooms,
two restrooms,
and an observation
room filled with
unique textiles and
magnificent wood
carvings delivered
from India.
The train car
represents one of
175 private rail cars
approved by Amtrak
to travel anywhere on
it’s more than 21,000
miles. Franklin D.
Roosevelt, Huey P. Long, and Clark Gable have all been transported aboard Car #50.
Tales of the Cocktail, the world’s premier cocktail festival, annually celebrates the summer in New
Orleans with lavish events complete with seminars, tastings, and opportunities to network within
the spirits industry. Tequila Patrón provided a one of a kind virtual reality experience to the Highlands of Jalisco,
Mexico where the Hacienda Patrón distillery resides. The 3D virtual reality experience equipped
with a 360-degree oculus, revealed Tequila Patrón’s agave fields and the unique process and
production of their tequila.
Ride the Rails, hosted
by The Patrón Spirits
Company, featured the
Patrón Tequila Express, a
refurbished 1927 train car
parked at the southeast
corner of Esplanade and
N. Peters Street. John Paul
DeJoria, founder of The
Patrón Spirits Company and
owner of The Patrón Tequila
Express, is responsible for
restoring the train car to
its original state after being
found in a junkyard in the
1980s. Top quality margaritas
served during the event
were created with the
finest of Patrón’s tequilas.
In addition to being
served exclusive drinks,
Tequila Patrón prepared
delicious foods along with
a peaceful environment
filled with tuneful
instrumentals of the early
20th century.
Ride the Rails embodied
the definition of Patrón’s
tequilas, “simply perfect”.
