randing Male entrepreneurs who read this headline may feel some type of way, so let’s start with the numbers and the facts, shall we? why do I want to start with numbers before sharing my 3 ways women have an unfair advantage over men in business? well, it’s actually quite simple… Business Mogul Jay-Z said it best, “Men Lie, women Lie, but NUMBerS Don’t!” Based on detailed information conducted by the Center for Women Business Research, women own 10.6 million businesses in the United States, they employ 19.1 million workers(that’s one in every seven employees) andtheir businesses account for $2.5 trillion in sales. Now this article isn’t to argue who has the most businesses, who creates the most jobs or who accounts for the most sales between female and male entrepreneurs. This article is to expose, “Why Women Have an Unfair Advantage Over Men In Business.” Of course I could share several ways that women have an “Unfair Advantage” over male entrepreneurs, but for the sake of time, let’s dive into the top three…. 1. Now I’ve been blessed to work with, coach and train entrepreneurs from all over the globe with all different types of backgrounds and something that I’ve noticed is that women are more open minded to personal growth and are more coachable minus the eGO. Here’s what I mean… A lot of times, as men, we get stuck in our ways and when it comes to us following the instruction of another male or female our egos kick in and our minds shut down. Many times we forget that to be great leaders, we have to be great students. women are wired differently and have this down to a science and show more willingness to grow into the person they have to become in order to be successful. women are also willing to accept instruction and course correction a.k.a “construction criticism”. 2. women are naturally nurturers so when it comes to building teams, working with employees etc. they are more empathetic. This type of attitude creates long term business relationships and as a result long term business growth. Men entrepreneurs have a tendency to be more focused on the bottom line and could sometimes care less how someone feels. This is usually because men are more results driven and like to keep emotion and feelings out of the picture along the way. 3. women are willing to be more transparent than men. when you’re willing to share your story of struggle and setbacks throughout your life to show that you’re a real person, more people will be willing to let their guard down and do business with you because they can relate to you. Men sometimes have a hard time publicly sharing our losses and struggles. Sometimes it’s the things that we have gone through growing up that holds us back and keeps us from allowing ourselves to connect with more people who may have been willing to do business with us. here’s an example… Billionaire, Oprah winfrey, was molested by a relative as a little girl and by her sharing her story, she’s been able to impact millions of lives across the globe. From Oprah’s willingness to share her story, Billionaire Tyler Perry, said he was more open to sharing his story of being abused and molested as a child. Now look at the empire he’s been able to build by being more transparent. Take note. If you’re a female entrepreneur reading this and you haven’t fully recognized the power you possess in having these 3 “Unfair Advantages” I highly encourage you to start embracing this power today. And if you’re a maleentrepreneur reading this… I highly encourage you to embrace the traits of our female Entrepreneurs because these 3 traits will have a BIG of an impact on both your business and your income.
