2020 (MMXX): Beginnings - is a no-theme exhibition, with a twist. The entrants
for this juried exhibition were asked to think about the following points when
creating/submitting work for this exhibit:
We want a diverse exhibition with encaustic/wax artists delving into the creative
process with the idea of “new beginnings”. What will your 20’s look like? In 1920,
women got the vote. What new beginnings will 2020 have in store for your
creative efforts?
The call for art went out in mid-January, 2020. In the midst of the entry period,
the US began to feel the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result of
restrictions put into place, the Encaustic Art Institute and Museum of Encaustic
Art were mandated to close. This forced a shift from the usual brick-and-mortar
exhibition to an online-only forum for the exhibit. To see the exhibit online and
