Why should MEN be considered the dominant gender?
Who put it in everyone's minds that men should be the one to possess all the power within society? I mean, historically speaking, women were less valued and they were only known to be only useful for cooking, cleaning and making children, so I somewhat understand understand where the idea came from. Although, now it's 2014, and it's still in some's mindset. It's as if society is conditioned to see it that way. They say that men are supposed to be considered to be the breadwinner of the family but women are capable of bringing money in too.
Speaking of money, why is it that within certain jobs and careers, men are making more than woman are even if it's the same occupation? Women have been fighting for equality rights and even though society is slowly progressing, is it really changing as much as we think it is? This ties in with social psychology because everyone is influenced socially. When people talk, it spreads quickly and people are influences easily.
Once a belief is stuck in an individuals' mind, it gets passed around.
From an anthropologist's point of view, they would think about where the community is situated. Are the women living in a society where all women are degraded? Is it a part of religion? Or is it a cultural belief?
Another thing to think about is the form of power. Power has a great deal to do with it because certain men feel as if they should be better than women, and if they aren't they feel useless.
Power and hierarchy intertwine because it's as if there's a social pyramid and men are supposed to be on top of it, especially the straight-white male.
Psychologically thinking, are men brought up this way? There are certain religions where men are seen as the higher form of power thus making the woman his personal child-bearer.

Theoretically speaking, this can be the origin of stereotupes because we start assuming things and start playing them out in our daily lives.
Albert Bandura was a psychologist who came up with the learning theory. He believed that people learn from what they observe and then they portray it in their surroundings. If children grew up thinking this way, they'd be growing up in the wrong society. I believe that we are in the midst of an evolution. Women are getting more respect than they were back in the day. There is a more positive change beeing seen. In conclusion, why should men be seen as better? Without women, the world would be empty.
