Mario Contreras (violin), Ariel Negrin (bass),
Javier Noyola (bandoneon) and Adrian Silva
(vocals). Sometomes, the group includes guest
musicians, such as Jacinto Dupeyron (guitar) or
Daniel Rodriguez (cello). Their repetoire is a very
danceable genre bouquet, that retains concert
quality. They recently performed a selection of
songs at the Camerata Cancun during the concert season of the Cancun theater. They also appear on Thursdays at Los Gauchos restaurant in
Puerto Morelos.
La Bandarra is an emerging and solid representative of the reduced format group that has been extensively explored by Mexican musicians. This duo
was formed by the bandoneonist Clara Stern, in
1999. She was seduced by the art of Astor Piazzolla. Cesar Lara, a guitarist from the Faculty
of Music, was attracted to tango following a concert that saw the duo Bandini-Chiataretta. The
duo has been together only since March 2016.
They have developed a successful career, playing in
university settings, such as UNAM, UAM, National
Conservatory. They have also appeared at major
cultural festivals, such as International Guitar Festival of Morelia.
Entretango
Lara had played in the bandoneon-guitar duo,
Fortunio formed with Javier Noyola, which unveiled its first CD in 2016, Nostalgias. La Bandarra knows that their path as a duet is just beginning. They have prioritized quality and are preparing
works to produce an intimate flavor, with careful
and deep sensitivity. They follow the leads that have
Influenced them from history, such as the TroiloGrela and Pane-Dominguez duos. The duet is
finding its own voice between the most traditional
music and music from different sources, retaining
the sense of tango, never departing from the special texture that characterizes it.
