PUT YOUR GAME FACE ON !

APPLYING YOUR OWN MAKEUP FOR A PHOTO SHOOT !
You have scheduled a photo shoot , no makeup arBst is going to be on set , and you are responsible for your own makeup applicaBon . As a professional makeup arBst for more than 30 years , I have predy much seen it all when it comes to how some models look when they arrive to a shoot . In order to create the best images , there are a few rules that must be followed :
First , be sure to communicate with your photographer as to what looks they want to create . Share “ concept images ” so that discussion does not take up valuable Bme at the shoot . Take the Bme to pracBce the looks you ’ ve talked about , and make face charts with what colors you used and where . Be sure to take these with you to speed up your applicaBon process . Share with the photographer a few camera phone shots in advance of the shoot , too .
Second , consider going to the shoot with no makeup on – a clean , naked face . The lighBng you have at home will alter how your makeup looks once you get to the studio or locaBon . Bring a large variety of makeup products in a separate bag , including a mirror and brushes . Things can change as the session goes on and you want to be prepared for anything . Ask ahead of Bme if there is a spot where you can uBlize the photographer ’ s lighBng or natural light to apply your makeup . Also , never cover yourself in glidery body loBon , baby oil , body paints , etc . Instead , have a light body loBon in your bag for any dry skin touch -‐ ups as needed . Plan ahead with your photographer to make sure you arrive on Bme or early so you have the Bme to apply your makeup correctly .
Third , keep it simple and use a light touch to start . Refer to the face charts you created . You can always build up colors , however , it ’ s next to impossible to lighten a color without starBng over completely . Also , don ’ t be afraid to mix foundaBon colors together to get a match to your skin tone . Remember , the face and neck should “ match ” so pick the lighter of the two and blending is key ! A \ er you have completed your look , make sure to dust the face with a made powder to remove any shine . This will transfer to a cleaner image on camera .
Lastly , please remember to get a good night ’ s sleep . If you are Bred , it will show both on your face and in your energy level . It ’ s important to put your best self forward each and every Bme . Now go have fun ! Makeup applicaBon can make or break an image , so take the Bme to learn basic skills or more advanced techniques . Both you and the photographer will be proud of the looks you create when you take the Bme to do your makeup the right way !
