  Bill Haley’s hit single “Rock Around the Clock” (1955) is a classic example of the incoming flow of jazz with the rock beat. During the early times of the 1900’s Songs like “Rock Around the Clock” were very popular because of the Jazz and Rock beat. Bill, at the age 15, left home with a duffle bag and guitar and joined a local jazz band which gave him experience in music and a history lesson in the musical time period. With this newly developed knowledge, Haley became redesigned the bangs flow and incorporated jazz and rock music. In addition to Bill’s life, the song, shows the past and present of the music industry that correlates with the modernist artistry in this time period. The paintings in this time period connect to his music because they show the progression of Humans and the adaptation to a newer higher tech world. The repetitiveness of the word “Rock” throughout this song shows the new era of having fun and the jazzy feel of the song shows the evolution of the new genre theme and the previous genre. Me personally, as a rock enthusiast, I love the intertwined genres of jazz and rock. The catchy flow of the saxaphone and accordion make the song more 50’s, while the guitar and drums, put that 60’s classic rock in the song.
