news products people events extras Bedshed Forges New International Supplier Relationships A contingent of Bedshed executives and franchisees has visited Vietnam and Malaysia to forge relationships with potential new international suppliers Bedshed’s Chief Operating Officer, Gavin Culmsee, said the trip was designed to establish partnerships with a small selection of quality new suppliers. “Bedshed’s Merchandise Advisory Council, comprising executives and franchisees, travels regularly to ensure we maintain our industry-leading position as a retailer of the latest product designs and innovations,” he said. “It’s how we stay ahead of the game.” The recent trip was one of more than 15 for WA franchisee Russell Fudge, who has operated Bedshed stores for some 10 years. “The visit was important in terms of giving potential suppliers some direction in product development, ensuring they understand what products will best suit the Australian market and local consumer tastes,” he said. More International Franchises On The Way The international economic outlook is still quite subdued, unless you are an overseas based franchise looking to expand into Australia, that is! The next arrival onto our shores could be Malaysian coffee franchise Old Town White Coffee. Having al ready conquered their home market in Malaysia this 160 unit strong franchise has recently been negotiating with local suppliers and has plans to open in Australia later in 2013. American chain Denny’s is also reported to be looking to Australia as are a number of other US franchise, large and small. The 2013 calendar is packed with trade shows where you can network and learn, get introduced to international master franchise and investment opportunities including the Global Franchise Fair.
