THE " ACTIVE COUCH POTATO " TRAP
Why your desk job is sabotaging your running By Biokineticist Leandri Willis
You hit the pavement at 6am, log eight solid kilometres, grab a shower, and feel like an absolute champion. But by 8:30am, you are locked into your office chair, where you remain, barring a quick coffee run, for the next eight hours.
If this sounds like your typical weekday, you might belong to a surprisingly large category of athletes: the active couch potato.
As a biokineticist, I see this pattern constantly.
Athletes assume that an hour of intense exercise immunises them against the hazards of a sedentary lifestyle. Unfortunately, human physiology doesn ' t work like a simple maths equation.
