“ A little bit further.” Accidentally tested and tried, I can confidently say that the principle works.
Every day. Every decision that you make shapes your destiny.
It shapes your future and the consequences( good or bad) serving as the foundation of personal responsibility and change.
Did I fully anticipate the impact of every“ Come on, Marissa … just a little bit further”?
Not in a million years. Do I regret it? A resounding no.
|
One more try when everything in me said:“ That’ s enough!”
We often think purpose arrives in big, dramatic moments.
But it doesn’ t.
It shows up quietly … disguised as discipline.
Disguised as showing up when no one is watching.
Disguised as choosing to keep going when it’ s hard.
And over time, those small decisions begin to compound.
They build strength. They build resilience. They build character. And before you even realise it …
|
And here’ s where it gets real.
Because while you and I get to choose to go“ a little bit further …”
There are millions who don’ t get to choose anything at all.
Human trafficking is not a distant problem. It is not someone else’ s issue.
It is happening. Right now. Children. Women. Men. Stripped of choice. Stripped of dignity. Stripped of hope.
So when I say:“ A little bit further …”
I don’ t just mean in sport. I mean in life. A little bit further in kindness. A little bit further in awareness.
|
The question is:
Will you go a little bit further?
Because impact doesn’ t begin when you feel ready.
It begins the moment you decide not to stop.
Protecting lives, one skip at a time. – The Rope Runner
Some run for medals. Some run for times. Marissa runs( while skipping!) to fight human trafficking – one step, and one life at a time.
If you want to join the fight

The beauty in this – something I often share at schools and conferences – is this:
It didn’ t start with a marathon. It didn’ t start with Comrades. It didn’ t start with a world-first. It started with a decision. A small one. To not stop.
To go a little bit further than what felt comfortable.
A few extra skips. A few extra steps.

They build impact.
If you had told me a year ago that I would be rope-running internationally, preparing for global marathons, and using this platform to speak to one of the darkest realities of our time … I would have laughed.
But here we are. Not because I had it all figured out.
But because I chose – daily – to take one more step.
|
A little bit further in choosing to care.
Because the same principle that builds a runner …
Can build a movement.
You may not have a rope in your hand.
But you have something.
And the question is not if you can make a difference.
