“ My favourite artist is Eminem. I like to listen to him before races. My favourite song by him before a race is Not Afraid. I listen to Queen as well, Bohemian Rhapsody and Love my Life are my favourite songs by them. But I like all genres. South African artists? I listen to a fair bit of stuff by Western Cape band Spoegwolf and I also like Robbie Wessels. He’ s one of my favourites, and in terms of the rap genre one of my favourite Afrikaans rappers is Early B!”

CHRISTIAN SADIE
( Two-time Paralympian swimmer and 2022 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist)
“ I really enjoy lots of different music, general training music is EDM( electronic dance music) from the 2000s and maybe 2010 era. Nice to have a nice beat, nothing too slow. I really like a guy called Apashe. For chilling, I do a lot of programming work so a lot of instrumentals – from classic to pop instrumentals, not too distracting. For personal enjoyment, I like stuff from Eminem( Relapse) to Kanye West( Can’ t Tell Me Nothing or else Stronger) to Kendrick Lamar( DNA).”
CAITLIN ROOSKRANTZ

“ At the moment I’ m into quite a variety of different music genres and artists. I have been loving all of Olivia Dean but especially her newest album The Art of Loving. Also, Tems and her new album Love is a Kingdom. Then there’ s Summer Walker ' s newest album Finally Over It. I also enjoy a lot of Christian music, when I need a little pick-me-up, especially music from Elevation Worship, Hillsong Worship, and Maverick City choral music.”

“ It’ s always interesting when we’ re on tour or travelling or in camp because usually the players put their own lists on and I get a lot of the music I love from those lists but depending on the mood for the game, and the stress levels during the game – whether I want to relax or get a little more energy – this is the very diverse list of songs that I usually go to:
Riaan Benadé – Spontaan, Elton John & Dua Lipa – Cold Heart, Andrea Bocelli – Amo Soltanto Te, Passion – Waiting Here for You, Teddy Swims – Dose, Ons – Lag, Jason Derulo – Acapulco, Snotkop – Raak vir my Rustig, Mumford & Sons – Women, The Goo Goo Dolls – Iris, Glass Animals – Heat Waves, Cyril – Stumblin’ In, Teddy Swims – Bad Dreams, Joel Corry – Head & Heart
These are a selection of the songs I love listening to when I work out and it’ s actually quite a wide variety:
Sarkodie – Otan, 2Pac – All Eyez on Me, Eminem – Beautiful Pain ft. Sia and also Mockingbird, Kidwild – Fake Friends and another song called Redemption( ft. Nemzzz), Shwi and Sjava – Ithuna, Superstar Pride – Painting Pictures and then finally: Dumi Mkokstad – Ulwandle. https:// www. youtube. com / watch? v = CRuOOxF- ENQ & list = RDCRuOOxF-ENQ & start _ radio = 1 www. modernathlete. co. za 17
