FAVOURITE TRACKS AT THE
DISCOVERY 947 RHYTHM RUN
As an athlete, you know the hours, sweat, and effort that goes
into training for an event, and you’re familiar with the planning and
preparation it takes to get to the event without hitting any ‘snags’
along the way.
B
ut best of all, you know the goose bumps or
fluttery tummy of excitement and the terrific burst
of adrenalin that takes over your body when you
run amongst hundreds of others who are sharing
the moment of starting a race with you.
In May, Discovery has teamed up with 947 to host a new
and exciting fitness event, the Discovery 947 Rhythm Run.
On Saturday 20 May, Discovery and 947 will head to the
Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit for a unique night run that will
offer Joburgers a chance to get active in a safe environment,
and to be entertained by some of the hottest on-air DJ talent
along the route and after the run.
The Discovery 947 Rhythm Run has two race distances:
A single lap of 4.7km, and a double lap of 9.4km.Vitality
members will receive 1100 points for completing the 9.4km
distance and 800 points for the 4.7km distance.
Because the night belongs to runners, music will
be heard at various sections along the run and the
festivities will continue into the night with live DJs, food
stalls and entertainment.
“We know that exercising in the colder months needs
a little extra motivation,” says Iona Maclean, Head of
Experiential Marketing at Discovery. “Vitality data shows
that gym visits are 9% lower than the year average
during the colder winter months, so we want you to
grab your friends, family members and colleagues, and
treat yourselves with an outdoorsy event that’s not just
fun, but also helps you stay active this winter season.”
