2017 XTERRA entries now open!
Entries for South Africa’s premier triathlon-series are now open and the 2017 Fedhealth XTERRA series promises to be
bigger and better than ever before.
“Fedhealth is all about cultivating an active and healthy lifestyle. The XTERRA series delivers both a gruelling challenge to
experienced triathletes and a great weekend out for families who are just trying to add physical activity to their everyday
lifestyle,” says Fedhealth Principal Officer, Jeremy Yatt. “It’s truly an experience that offers something for everyone… not to
mention the scenic locations and added entertainment.”
The 2017 XTERRA series will take place in Buffelspoort on the weekend of 20 – 22 January, Nelson Mandela Bay on the
weekend of 10 – 12 February and Grabouw on the weekend of 24 – 26 February.
These events can be entered separately, however triathletes who complete all three events will automatically qualify for a
chance to win an all-expenses paid trip to Reunion Islands to compete at the 2017 XTERRA Reunion in April. There is also a
R10 000 Totalsports voucher up for grabs at each venue.
The XTERRA series offers three type of events – XTERRA Lite, XTERRA Full and XTERRA Kids.
XTERRA Lite
The Fedhealth XTERRA Lite events are perfect for the triathlete who enjoys a bit of competition, but is still working his or
her way up the distance stakes. There are three Lite events to look forward to in 2017. First up is the Fedhealth XTERRA Lite
Buffelspoort on Sunday 22 January. It features a 400m swim, 19km MTB and 6km trail run. Next we make our way to Nelson
Mandela Bay for a 400m swim, 12km MTB and 6km trail run on Sunday 12 February. To complete the Lite series, the final
event will take place in Grabouw on 26 February 2017 and will entail a 400m swim, 12.5km MTB and 5km trail run.
