ith 80 days to go until the 2015 Old Mutual
Two Oceans Marathon, there were about 2000 ultra
entries left, but these are expected to all be snapped
up before entries officially close on 4 March. All 16,000
entries for the Half Marathon sold out in record time,
as did the 1000 Trail Run entries, and entries for
the Fun Runs and International Friendship Run have
already started coming in. The total number of entries
thus stood at 25,292 at the time of writing.
MEET THE NEW GM
In August the Two Oceans Marathon NPC appointed
Carol Vosloo as its new General Manager. She
started her ‘sporting career’ as events co-ordinator at
Eastern Province Cricket. Since then she has gained
a wealth of experience in the sporting world. As a
partner and director of a sports marketing consultancy
in Johannesburg, she managed and executed events
such as the Nedbank Golf Challenge and national and

Seeding updates for both the Half and Ultra Marathon
as well as both Trail Runs can be done between
23 January and 4 March. Simply log on to the event’s
online entry system and update your seeding with
the name, date and distance of the race and the time
you ran, plus a website address where your new time
can be verified. Runners who missed out on an entry
will also be able to do online substitutions between
23 January and 4 March, if all entries have sold out.

DOUBLE 40 FOR LOUIS
The 2015 Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon will
play witness to a remarkable milestone when Louis
Massyn of the Goudveld Multi Sport club finishes,
as he will become the first runner to earn 40 medals
at both Two Oceans and the Comrades Marathon.
Up till now, the only runner to finish the Two Oceans
40 times was Noel Stamper, who completed his 41st
and final consecutive voyage in 2011. In 2012 Louis
became the sixth of just nine runners to date who
have run 40 Comrades, and he did so in consecutive
years as well, adding a further two medals since then.
His 39 Two Oceans medals (6 silver, 31 bronze, 2
blue) have also come in consecutive years since 1976,
with a best of 3:41:15 in 1981. Tony Abrahamson of
Foresters is also in line to earn his 40th Two Oceans
medal this year.
