SIGN UP FOR RACE 4 CHARITY
The Race 4 Charity initiative offers Comrades
runners an opportunity to turn their running
efforts into something great for charity,
while securing a better start seeding for the
race. The CMA has reserved 1,000 entries
for runners who raise at least R5,000 each
for the race’s Amabeadibeadi charities, and
they will start in their own special seeding
batch (Comrades Charity batch) near the
front of the field. All Race 4 Charity runners
will also receive an exclusive goodie bag at
Registration, and there are great incentive
prizes up for grabs for those runners who
raise the most money.
The campaign is intended to foster wider
support for charitable fundraising for the
CMA’s six official charities, so if you want to
sign up for Race 4 Charity, you still need to
enter the 2015 Comrades by closing date of
entries, but will then have until 5 May 2015
to raise funds. Please note that normal race
rules still apply for entries and there will be
no refunds should a runner fail to qualify or
raise the minimum amount.
CANADIAN EXPEDITION
As part of its international marketing drive,
the Comrades Marathon sent Marketing
Coordinator Thami Vilakazi and Media and
Communications Officer Delaine Cools to
the Quebec Marathon in Canada in August,
and they were ably assisted by the jovial
Canadian Comrades Ambassador, Andrea
Moritz, and her partner Marc Pelosse.
The Quebec Marathon Sports and Fitness
Expo took place from 22 to 23 August at
the Quebec City Convention Centre, and
the team had an excellent time speaking
to the local runners who showed a lot of
enthusiasm to come and run the Ultimate
Human Race. A number of Canadian
runners already knew about the Comrades
and some even have it listed as one of
those ‘to do’ events on their bucket list, so
hopefully the number of Canadian runners
coming to run in SA will continue to grow.
