This year triathlon is also back on the programme, and for the first time a triathlon mixed relay will be held. – BY SEAN FALCONER th Images: Courtesy Glasgow2014 T he track and field team boasts The Glasgow skyline. a rich spread of both Olympic and Commonwealth Games experience as well as stars of the future: Simon Magakwe, Akani Simbine, Wayde van Niekerk, Andre Olivier, Johan Cronje, LJ van Zyl, Cornel Fredericks, Zarck Visser, Ruswahl Samaai, Khotso Mokoena, Orazio Cremona, Rocco van Rooyen, Willem Coertzen, Fredriech Pretorius, Sunette Viljoen, Wenda Nel, Hendrico Bruintjies, Shawn De Jager, Victor Hogan and Anaso Jobodwana. The Paraathletes in the team are Fanie van der Merwe, Charl du Toit, Andrea Dalle Ave, Juanelie Meijer and Lean Simon. In triathlon, SA will be represented by Richard Murray, Henri Schoeman, Wian Sullwald, Kate Roberts and Gillian Sanders. At the last Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, India (2010), Team South Africa won 33 medals to end joint fifth on the medals table, with 12 gold, 11 silver and 10 bronze medals. Five of those medals were won in athletics: Gold for Chris Harmse (Men’s Hammer) and Sunette Viljoen (Women’s Javelin), silver for LJ van Zyl (Men’s 400m Hurdles) and Samkelo Radebe (Men’s Para 100m T46), and bronze for Just [
