well on the World Stage
1:01:10, and Lusapho April was 15th in
a PB of 1:01:16. The SA men totalled
3:03:13 in the team competition – slightly
slower than the 3:02:21 of the winning
SA team in 1998, but much faster than
the 3:06:01 of the team that also won in
1999. The team that was second in 1997
ran 3:03:34.
Cornelia, Elroy, Stephen, Lusapho,
Jenna and Rene.
In the women’s race, Rene Kalmer
finished 27th in a PB 1:11:53 (she has
three faster times on non-standard pointto-point downhill ‘aided’ courses). She is
now the third-quickest SA runner ever.
Added to that, she went through 15km in
50:36, faster than her 51:11 PB. Behind
her, Jenna Challenor finished 47th in a PB
of 1:14:20, while Cornelia Joubert was
