Coach’s Corner
A few words on IRONMAN 2014
from our Modern Athlete Dare to
Tri Coach, Derick Marcisz.
Ten out of the 13 DTT athletes finished IMSA this
year, which is a fantastic achievement, given that
most only started with triathlon just 18 months
ago! The three that did not finish all managed to
complete the swim and bike, but the run brought
on exhaustion. I have no doubt that they will be
back in 2015!
DTT results
Bryan Webster, 13:14 – novice and 1st DTT man
home
Elizma Jordaan, 13:25 – novice and 1st DTT
woman home
Johan van der Westhuizen, 13:32 – novice
Johan van Rooyen, 13:38 – 2nd IMSA finish
Marcello Gnudi, 13:40 – several IMSA finishes
Brenda Pritchard, 14:29 – novice
Julia Webster, 15:17 – novice
Frans van der Linde, 15:25 – novice
Kerryn Trim, 16:21 – novice
Peter Rankin, 16:56 – novice
It really has been a great season! We started
training in July 2013, aiming for the 5150 events
at Bela Bela and Germiston, then moving onto
Ironman 70.3, the Midmar Ultra and finally
IMSA. Over 80 triathletes trained under the
DTT programme, with 50 finishers at both 5150
events, 60 at Ironman 70.3 and 10 at IMSA. This
racks up to an impressive 97% finishing average!
