We’re always looking for My Story and My Goal pieces, for starters, so let us know what you have in mind. – Ed. SINGLES SECTION etter Winning L WANT TO WRITE? Running is a very friendly sport, you meet new friends all the time, but what I ?nd missing, as a single runner who is looking for a partner who shares the same passion for running as myself, is a dating column in your magazine. Is there a possibility that you can consider one? – Monica I think all single runners aspire to ?nd a partner who will go running with them and also wake up early on weekends for races, so it’s an interesting idea, but what I would prefer to start with is a training group hook-up service via our online platforms. And if romance buds from that, then bonus! – Ed. PARKRUN PROMO COST OF COMRADES – Johannes Van Der Linde Does any one know what the entry fee for comrades 2014 is? An entry for South African runners will cost R320 from 1 September to 30 September, but the early bird special rate then falls away and the entry goes up to R350 from 1 October to 30 November. Entries will close once 18 000 have been received. – Ed. Compared to a typical running event, parkrun has many advantages. It doesn’t cost participants any money. There are no registration fees or licence numbers. It is open to all ages. It takes place in a safe environment, away from roads. Runners need not belong to a club. The runs are always ?ve kilometres long, and they always take place at eight o’clock on a Saturday morning. So, have you told your grandparents, mother, father, brother, and sister about parkrun? Do your aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews know it’s free? How about the 500 Vitality Points earned per weekly event? Don’t keep them waiting, they can register at www.parkrun.co.za. P.S. Invite your boss too. – Modderfontein Reserve parkrun Now THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is how you promote your event. – Ed. I LIKE YOUR MAG EDITOR’S PERKS LOVE your mag! Keep up the good effort! And Sean, let us know what races you are commentating at, the West Coasters will be sure to have a cold one for you. – Megan Wentzinger You see, it’s not what you know, it’s who you know! – Ed.
