Cornelia Gets Her Win
The streets of Johannesburg were buzzing with excitement on Friday 9 August when a record ?eld of 7 734 runners gathered at Rooseveldt High School in Emmerentia to celebrate National Women’s Day on the run. Nedbank’s SA Marathon Champion Cornelia Joubert showed her versatility by winning in 37:55, in what she said was a tough race. “This is the ?fth time that I took part in the Totalsports Ladies Race. The competition was tough, the route featured more hills than last year, and the weather didn’t make racing any easier, so I’m happy to ?nally take ?rst place. There was a great vibe amongst the runners, and I really enjoyed taking part.” Christine Kalmer (Nedbank) came in second, while Dianna Dalula (Maxed Elite) ?nished third.

Stellenbosch was a sea of pink shirts.

All three Totalsports Ladies Races featured great live music to keep the runners and walkers entertained. In Durban and Stellenbosch, neo-soul singer, songwriter, presenter and actor, Gift Gwe had the ladies singing along, while popular female group Jamali got the crowd moving in Johannesburg.
