The middle-distance and long-distance events in Paris were enthralling , with lung-busting sprint finishes and even a few tussles on the track to add to the excitement . Highlights included Faith Kipyegon becoming the first woman to win the 1500m at three consecutive Games , and Sifan Hassan claiming doing a ‘ Zatopek ’ by claiming medals in the 5000m , 10,000m and marathon , while South African supporters loved watching Prudence Sekgodiso make her first global final in the women ’ s 800m final .
