Building on the fantastic success of the 2023 race , Dolphin Coast Striders proudly presents the Balwin Sport Dolphin Coast Marathon on 17 March 2024 . Featuring marathon , half marathon , 10km and 5km distances , the event forms part of the exciting Balwin Sport Marathon Series , a first in South Africa . Set against the stunning backdrop of the Indian Ocean , this marathon is not just a race , it ’ s an exhilarating and unforgettable event that celebrates the spirit of athleticism and the picturesque landscapes of the Dolphin Coast .

To further motivate participation in the series , runners who participate in any one of the events in the series could qualify to win a fully furnished Balwin apartment . Participants who enter and complete any distance on the day of one of the races and follow this up with a visit to any of Balwin ’ s show apartments at one of its developments countrywide , will stand a chance to win a fully furnished apartment to the value of R800,000 !
The Awesome Foursome
The Balwin Sport Marathon Series links four of the country ’ s oldest and most iconic marathons across South Africa for the first time , and will see more than R2 million injected into South African road running annually for the next 10 years . The four races are :
• 11 February 2024 – Jeppe Marathon in Johannesburg
• 18 February 2024 – Peninsula Marathon in Cape Town
• 25 February 2024 – Phobians Pretoria Marathon in Pretoria
• 17 March 2024 – Dolphin Coast Marathon in Durban
Great news is that the old course is back on the M4 Coastal Highway from Ballito to Durban , with the marathon starting in Ballito and finishing on the world class Durban Promenade . The marathon is a Comrades qualifier . The 21km starts at Sibaya and the 10km starts at Virginia , also running to the same finish . The 5km fun run will start and finish at the Durban Promenade .
Bus transport is available to the three starts for the marathon , half marathon or 10km at a cost of R150 . The busses will leave from 3am from behind the Tourism Office on the Marine Parade , above the finish venue . Bus tickets can be purchased online or at Registration . Other event perks include FREE race T-shirts for marathon , half marathon and 10km entrants ( capped at 4000 ), plus FREE digital race pics for all runners from Action Photo SA
Note that online entries close at midnight on Monday 11 March , and no entries will be available on race day , except for the Fun Run .
